This poet is written by William Saroyan, the one in the picture is him 1908-1981
William Saroyan’s Poem:
I SHOULD LIKE TO SEE
ANY POWER OF THE WORLD DESTROY THIS RACE,
THIS SMALL TRIBE OF UNIMPORTANT PEOPLE,
WHOSE WARS HAVE ALL BEEN FOUGHT AND LOST,
WHOSE STRUCTURES HAVE CRUMBLED, LITERATURE IS UNREAD, MUSIC
IS UNHEARD, AND PRAYERS ARE NO MORE ANSWERED.
GO AHEAD, DESTROY ARMENIA SEE IF YOU CAN DO IT.
SEND THEM INTO THE DESERT WITHOUT BREAD OR WATER.
BURN THEIR HOMES AND CHURCHES.
THEN SEE IF THEY WILL NOT LAUGH,
SING AND PRAY AGAIN.
FOR WHEN TWO OF THEM MEET ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD,
SEE IF THEY WILL NOT CREATE A NEW ARMENIA.

Kouyrig Hasmig,
Yes, CC & I both woke this morning with both our Grandfathers Arshag on our minds, both escaping the Armenian Genocide as young boys. Only survivors of their respective families.
This day too was a memorable one for our family. On this day 1995 our Lydia became a United States Citizen. Her Father & I took the Oath (I cried so hard I did not know if I would make it through….thinking of our beginnings in Armenia and ALL that brought us to that one place and time, those who had gone before us) and Lydia was granted U.S. Citizenship.
Yes, today IS a day of great reflection…..
When the destructive side of humanity commits such atrocities, and standing up and saying in return “There Is No Hate” is what drives
CC Arshagra’s poetry. CC believes in the triumphant resolve of love and the good of humanity….like Saroyan is saying here. I do marvel at CC!
As Saroyan is saying here, “For when two of them meet anywhere in the World,
See if they will not create a New Armenia.” We Armenians are a spirited lot!!!
Kouyrig, my kouyrig. And we met here on RedBubble! And here we are communicating on a very important day of meaning. Some things perhaps only another Armenian can understand. This is a bond that is foundational for CC & I as well.
Continue in courage and strength dear Hasmig!
What a feeling to channel such a people and heritage, and to feel them cheering us on in this lifetime!
We carry such richness in our Armenian blood.
All Our Love,
Mariam Muradian & CC (Tarvaian) Arshagra

Man’s inhumanity to man is always surpassed eventually by courage and love in the human spirit. A very meaningful tribute Hasmig…love and peace to you and your family. xx
