Flower Bird by chazf

Currently unavailable for purchase

The most important of all beings in the chieftan’s garden is this tough, but magical flower bird. He can take flight at the sign of any intruder and see to it that no harm comes to the residents of the chieftan’s compound.
This sacred bird directs troops and flowers, flora and fauna in defense of his community. I often draw in small journals using pastels, colored pencils and pen and ink. This drawing took flight because it occurred at 35,000 feet on a flight to New York. Because it is a small imager, please view this in the larger format.

Interesting work. Lovely colours and it has something of a phoenix rising out of the ashes about it. But I need to know more about this concept of the “chieftain’s garden”. Who is the chieftain and what else is in the garden. Or is this a metaphor for God? I see you have a cross in the drawing.

Hi, Faith. I admire your work so much that it pleases me to see your comment pop up. The chieftan is me, that alter ego which governs my most laudible actions and moments. In this role, the chieftan manages all of the mystical, spiritual, and artistic facets of chazf, that earthly being in which I function in this world. Yes, there is a reference to a divine entity. I am inclined to speak with him in uncharted waters, delightful times, and (inevitably, in this political climate) in flight. Phoenix rising is his knee jerk reaction to unspeakable joy as well as time to show one’s plumage.

I was going to bubble mail you but your bubble mail does not appear in you profile.
I had not seen till today tht you are one of my “anonyme” buyers of my “Moon Sister ´s Apple” cards… I thank you .. really for it. So glad to have met you.
I also feel very puzzled about your Bird.. is that.. that is hanging.. a rosary?.. It seems so.. it had called my attention.. very much.
Hope you will post more work.. and hope we will see each other..
Have a warm greeting to you.
    Rosa

I like this drawing as well, and its story. When flying so high above the earth I find my mind wanders into creative and thoughtful places, too.

This is a beautiful creation, and I love the symbolism, as well as your story about its meaning! I’m terrified of flying and, maybe, I should try drawing, as you do, to keep my mind occupied.
