Glebe Tram Sheds – March 2011

The historic tram sheds are a living, breathing, ever changing urban canvas and it has been an emotional journey to capture what lies within.

I hope that by showing this work, we pay tribute to the anonymous artist and capture this moment for all to see.

Update 2012: This area is no longer accessible. The site has been taken over by developers and the area is being cleaned up and what’s left of the trams salvaged.

It’s pretty impressive Sooz, thanks for showing us, and a great shot of it too :-)

  • Thanks Matt. Have you ventured to the tram yards as yet? Apparently there is a DA in process to turn Harold Park into a residential area. It is only a matter of time before this place is lost forever.

No I haven’t had a chance to get there Sooz but I’d love to do it one day, it sounds as though I’d better do it soon though. Is it best to go during the week? I guess there would be likely to be more people there on weekends…

  • Its actually good to go on weekends as the door to the shed is usually open. Don’t crawl under the gate like we see so many photographers do rofl … Park car in Chapman Road off The Crescent and walk across to shed. From front gate you can enter via left, by using roots of large tree as steps or via the right of front gate by walking till you come to a large opening where additional gates used to be. IMHO the best time to go is after the rain as there are some lovely reflections. The broken glass roof also acts as a soft box so even in the middle of the day on a hot day is ok – though a little smelly. Good shoes are important as lots of broken glass.
