The Beast

Each breath wavering.
Long, deep, meditated.
This is determination.
Followed just as closely
By tense gasps; strong but harsh.
This is wind.

Each flash of jaws a spectacle.
Glaring teeth exposed,
Snapping together a sharp
Exposition. This is danger.
The vanguard, the barrier
Advancing without halt.
This is lightning.

A deep growl; the Earth shudders.
All in its presence take cover.
This is fury.
A response to the affront and joke
Called humanity.
This is thunder.

Steady, unfaltering.
A reckless but constant pace.
This is inevitability.
The paws of the monster,
Or the victims retreating?
This is rain.

Mankind tertiary.
Life secondary.
Nature is primary.
Before all, ruler of all.
Earth’s power corrupted
Against Gaia herself.

Unstoppable.
This is passion.
Irreconcilable.
This is the storm.
