the ice age of love
a lament as the cold nights of winter start to draw in
the ice age of love belongs to the following groups:
Immortal Lovestill looking for a bridge
on a windswept ridge
do open arms ever heal the scars
of memories lost long ago
it takes all sorts of reasons
when love is out of season
the ice that calls
as the heart so helplessly falls
i don`t know why i love
but i love you
in the mirror we can all learn to hate
an unforgiving mystery
tortured in all its history
when the world is incomplete
cut off from reality allergic and insecure
but life tends to moves on
thro snow and ice
you are not here
and i am not there
put your hands inside my heart
because nothing can tear it apart
time that drifts to the otherside
in a permafrost of despair
wasted memories defrost without a care
in the under current that used to be me
hidden longing clinging so desperately
holding on to hope that burns within a frozen landscape
visions got lost in a blizzard of chance
a perfect stranger seen from afar
a secret destination outside and in
as the heart so painfully ache`s
obscure feelings that were once neglected
have now become resurrected
on a lonely pillow dreams start to collide
waiting in vain for this iceage to subside

this is so achingly beautiful…so solemn and soft but just burns with intensity. Really wonderful writing xoxo

thanks christie love comes in all shades and colours and sometimes its obscure and opaque
and unclear of direction ,so i was trying to explore and express that unrequited feeling we get from time to time in our lives….thanks again for your kind compliment

I’m not the only one who writes with a hand on his heart:)....i do love this piece…it encapsulates the feeling that a rebirth is possible..and we can live again through depair.

Gaia Theory suggests Inter-Glacials are like fevers, signs of dis-ease. Bring on the Ice, preferably cubed. But when Halcyon, breezing by without a sideward glancing, leaves us alee, I think maybe Vernal might not be venal at all. Awaiting equinox, dear cousin.
charliethetramp replied
arh no…...glad to see you around lacewren…give us a kiss me old firend and we`re go equinoxal together somewhere someplace sometime and life will change in to a halcyon breeze and not a inter-glacial dis-ease

this poem kind of absorbs you and takes you on a journey with it, so smooth and kind of chilling in a beautiful way, it reminds me of this song Permafrost by Magazine.
charliethetramp replied
thanks jen i`ll take that as compliment its a beautiful dark song a bit to cold to” fuck on the permafrost “tho …as it tends to shrivel up below a certain temprture for us poor men
just joking jen glad you like it
JenniferB
oh it was definitely meant as a compliment. ;-)
charliethetramp replied

Great imagery and loved these lines:
i don`t know why i love
but i love you
:-D
charliethetramp replied
sometimes its just so hard to explain why we feel certain things on a deep emotional level
probably because love isn`t in the realm of logic and it tends to be paradoxical aswell
glad you like it richard and what wonderfull potrait jo did of you

me too..it seems to be the nature of life to make your heart ache and to have longing.. life can be hard, and sad… Sometimes I want to run and jump on the bus to that final destination on the other side but nobody seems to think i should be in a rush.. It helps to think of it like this, we are spiritual beings having a human experience rather then humans beings having a spiritual experience. Your last line speaks to me because sometimes im not in touch with my feeling either and sometimes life does feel like an ice age waiting to subside. love is universal but it is not easy to give it to everyone, but sometimes the people that are the hardest to love (whether it be it ourselves or others) are the people that need it the most..
charliethetramp replied
thanks jane…words are words and then there are feelings and sometimes words don`t do feelings justice and as for love such a paradoxical emotion but i think we all thrive with a bit of L.T.C in our lives
,thanks again jane for such a insightfull comment

beautiful writing charlie. yes, we can all hate but love is something few people understand – love that is not simply self-love projected out, love that needs no object but exists as itself, love that warms cold veins back into life. it doesn’t matter why you love, just as it doesn’t matter why you breathe. try to live without it and that becomes clear. your last two lines are heartbreaking – bitter-sweet, exquisitely painful . . . everything poetry should be. x
charliethetramp replied
yes judith the essence called love that deep down we all yearn for,and if fortune favour`s us we ocassionally give and recieve but it can seem so illusive at times and like all dreamers we live in hope and thanks as always for your inlightening comments
