Profile
I was born and grew up on the Wirral, moving to Cheshire in the late 1980s. My personal involvement with photography is fairly recent, considering I’ve been married to a landscape photographer for over 19 years – Phil Mann. I decided to try making pictures myself about four years ago. This coincided with becoming involved with online photography forums as a way to meet other photographers and share our work and our experiences. I was therefore able to combine my new interest in photography with my abiding interest in the internet and computers. I am now an administrator on the website Photographers Corner
My first digital camera was the Olympus mju-mini compact. However, as I became more and more intrigued by the possibilities of photography I felt this tiny camera was a bit limiting – I had very little control and no options to add filters or lenses. In October 2005 I was lent a Nikon Coolpix 5700 by a friend.
This camera gave me much more flexibility and scope but in early 2007 I upgraded to a Nikon DSLR. I still carry the Olympus with me everywhere but I love using the Nikon – it feels right in my hands and I like being able to use different lenses. I love to travel and now photography has given an extra dimension to my trips. I especially enjoy architecture photography and, at the other end of the scale, flower and macro work.
Phil and I shot our first wedding in October 2007. I am currently working with a local professional wedding photographer as an assistant/trainee..
