Light is the subject
So what do you photograph? We all photograph the same thing, over and over….Light! Or shall I say how light falls on objects. How it layers, disperses, warps itself, pierces, covers, caresses and interacts. THIS is what we photograph, and this is what can make or break a photo. Do this…photograph the same ‘thing’ or scene at one hour intervals from the same location and viewpoint. Look at the difference in how the light makes you feel about the photos. Now, go play with the light, work it, follow it and see how it will change what you see day to day.

I could not agree more,Charlie, say you have found an interesting subject, like an old car wreck in the middle of nowhere,(beyond the black stump)in Australia,at any time other than mid-day,walk around it taking well framed images as you go,then check them out the different moods that the light instills in each image, and if you take only one image you could be missing out on something quite unexpected,if for instance you shoot into the sun, there are so many possibilities where light falls,as Charlie has most eloquently described, well done Charlie, cheers.
