With a dusting of fresh snow overnight, the Black Tusk in Garibaldi National Park, BC, became a White Tusk. It is difficult to get the scale of this peak. If you look closely, there are trees in the foreground which will give you some indication of the size.

The Black Tusk at 2,319 m (7,608 ft) above sea level, is the remnant of a volcano. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_Tusk for more details.

A brilliantly clear and sunny morning allowed me to zoom in and take this from Whistler Mountain summit on, 22 Feb, 2011.

I was going to say something about how you can’t tell the scale until you realise that there are trees in the foreground… but then I read your description, and you already said it! Wow, Charles – you are certainly seeing some incredibly fantastic weather over there. I’m bright green :(

  • Monday was foggy – not one photo! Today (Wed) looks a mixture but very cold. At 8 am -21C on summit!
