Marcus Belgrave is Detroit’s legendary MASTER trumpeter, composer, arranger, recording artist, producer, educator and community activist. Born in Chester, PA, just outside of Philadelphia, he was a close and enduring assocaiate of the great man of blues and song who fused gospel with swing, Ray Charles.

In addition to RC, Belgrave extensively collaborated with world-class African Classical Music (jazz) artists, such as Ella Fritzgerald, Charles Mingus, McCoy Tyner, Dizzy Gillespie, Eric Dolphy, Joe Henderson, Wynton Marsalis, Yusef Lateef, Curtis Fuller, Charles McPherson, Ron Carter and soul singer, Areatha Franklin.

Marcus plays with the strength and musical range of Louis Armstrong. He has a wonderful personality and a unique voice quality in speech and song.

His legacy includes professorship and mentoring the next generation of jazz legends such as Geri Allen, James Carter, Rodney Whitaker among numerous others.
