Yellow was her favorite colored rose,
He got her one every year
Along with a simple handwritten card
That said, “I love you so much my dear.”
Last week was their anniversary, it would
Have been 41 years
But when he walked into the room,
The yellow rose fell to the floor as he
Fell to his knees in tears.
His Yellow Rose of Texas would no longer
Laugh and dance with him.
No more sitting on the porch swing
Holding hands and singing hymns.
She was now in heaven waltzing
On Streets of Gold, wading with Jesus
In Crystal Rivers, enjoying sights unbelievably
Awesome to behold.
His heart breaks for his love that he has lost
He takes that final yellow rose,
Encases it in glass
And daily lays his head upon it,
Weeping and praying for his time to quickly pass.
