Just In case You Forgot

Just In case you forgot or just didn’t see
What about that old spectre of vacuous poverty?
Absent hearted child of wars and bitter jealousy
That spirit of greed in the struggle to be better
Blown up and fitter after spearing with put downs
Poison darts spreading worry and guilt
To anyone with their guard down
Down in a flutter
Energy drained
Energy stolen
Tangled nerves from the gouge fracture through generations
All for
Proud from the one ups
Proud of the right one
Proud of trophy knowledge
All for nothing
The blind build the blind with their blinkered blind faith
Did they do it on purpose?
Or are they just stupid?
Can’t deal out respect
Won’t handle the best of you
Never failing to dissapoint
Riding their merry go loop
knotted up guts in an unstable mesh
Of head locks and locked horns
Declaring own status
Fenced off from key minds
Independant stranded

Don’t get tagged by this stupid old thing.
It catches like wild fire and consumes at it’s pace
The rundown down beaten tricked human race
No time for this now
shut all of those doors
On that old chestnut horse you’ve flogged
But still eats your last straws
Be fair to yourself
Time to press pause
Stop pushing so hard
You’re bent over too far
Strike your own balance
In a yin and Yang pattern
Of thought and compassion
What does really matter?
Counting your blessings as you see them
Let in the light
Let yourself recieve love
Divine inspiration
Heal yourself
Protect your self
Encased by your shield
Reset your boundaries
Go into the ground
Resist the Oil Beetles
And acrid tangled sharp weeds
If you find a truth don’t hold back your reflection
Sending your love where it’s needed
Raise your vibrations and shake off your illness
Your radiance radiates
Like a scented summer breeze
Like attracts like

Use all the sources of light you can find
Heal your own golden world
Love waits in the wings
To follow your example
All will follow your lead
Healing the earth
Growing unknown seeds
Flushed with grace as your true needs are met by coincidence
The nature of the universe will nurture your cause
Keeping your senses keen on your ever present purpose
Drenching your new life in all that is smiles
Tending to marble swirl branches of interest
Rooted and planted secure in the earth
Mindful growth through the fractal maze of influence
Sharing your knowledge to work out your truth
Finding beautiful fruits that feed revolution
The language of light
Known by all us wild creatures
Trying to rebuild this spoilt reservation
You can only support when you’re strong inside
Your uncanny beauty shines
Embraced by wholeness
All life in it’s places their auras and dimensions
Healing your life
Your neighbourhood and your universe

Before my Nanny (Gorgina) Borroff completely lost her ability to speak because of vascular dementia. She fought hard to get across her meaning. It has been heartbreaking trying to try to pick up on what she wanted to say with seemingly random words with desperation. somtimes it felt like if I looked hard enough her efforts felt profound.
strangely after a poetry workshop at her day centre everything she said from that point was then carried with a poetic rythm. similar to the rythm I fell into writing this. I hope I have passed on the meaning I found in her, all of my family and friends and the places I love.

This is my first attempt at poetry so please bare with me. Just really had to get something off my chest. You may have noticed that it’s changed a little bit since it first went up but I think I’m done now.

I dare you to google an Oil Beetle, it’s not for the faint hearted.

Oh Charissa your poem is absolutely beautiful…so full of truths. This one in particular: The blind build the blind with their blinkered blind faith. Excellent. Hope to see more :)

  • Wow Thankyou C J Lewis, I don’t think I have anymore poems in me. I’ve always been afraid to have a go at writing poems in case i did something wrong and it would be really embarresing. My sister ask me to write something on one of her canvases last year and I dug out a piece of paper with a rant I’d written about depression running through families and how it’s roots come from war.
I’d recently been blown away by a poet called Howard Wright ( http://www.youtube.com/user/HowardAW ) and I’ve found my self digging out that old poem and adding how these problems can be solved.

“The blind build the blind with their blinkered blind faith” came from a very important moment when I saw this picture by Canadian artists Mary Bogdan ( http://www.flickr.com/photos/marybogdan/2278611... )

I think this line fits in well in a list of destructive forces. Less blind faith and more spiritual awareness is what’s needed here!

You’re welcome Charissa. Am sure you have plenty more poems in you…just pick up a pen and write from the heart, like you so obviously did this one. Don’t think about doing something wrong just apply yourself. Personally, I think depression comes from people looking back at their life too much and not just learning from the experience of past mistakes of how not to make the same mistake again then getting on with their life. Lot’s wife looked back and turned to salt then blew away…a metaphor…looking back creates depression which creates tears which are salty and they also get sick from being depressed and die.
Thanks for those links will look at them tomorrow (4.24am here so I should get some sleep – I’m in Australia (Oz) :)
You’re spot on about less blind faith and more spiritual awareness being needed. There is a great majority of people that have been blinded by the wool pulled over their eyes in this world to what is actually going on in this world…spirit shows those into spiritual awareness that and the truths :) Great eh??

    You’ve got me going now and I’ve put some bits from my sketch books on here now. I thought of them more as little notes making sense of things than poems. But thinking about it, I suppose I was writing from the heart. I’m feeling less bothered about judgment and cynical comments now. It doesn’t make sense to value cynism enough to stop me from speaking in my own way. Thanks for your support C J Lewis, I salute you for your wisdom and knowledge. Sweet Dreams xxc;
