Metolius River by

This is the beginning of the Metolius River.

The Metolius River flows ice cold from huge springs that appear to originate from beneath Black Butte( a baby volcano). However geologists say this is misleading and believe the springs have their origin in the Cascade Mountains to the west. This unusual fault which created Green Ridge is thought to have brought the springs to the surface, thus releasing the beautiful Metolius River. Access to this is off of Highway 20 heading east a few miles before Sisters,Oregon.
