St Columba, TAS
After my last visit to Tasmania, I was hellbent on getting back to St Columba Falls, as I had enjoyed the shots I got so much, that I just had to get into the stream and get some more shots. The day that I had designated however, it was one of the wettest Tasmanian days I had ever had. The rain came in all directions, heavy, constant. I wasn’t going to let it get in my way. I had come prepared for these conditions, I had a camera raincoat, I had my own raincoat and rain pants. (I sadly didn’t have rain-proof shoes) but I had will and determinism, I was going to get my shots.
As water dropped off everything that I had, and as leeches tried their best to permeate my waterproof pants, I snapped on, even replacing a battery whilst under this magnificent canopy of trees. I enjoyed this shoot, though running back to the car with everything absolutely soaked was not in my “trip highlights”, the shots that came from this day were certainly beautiful ones. I think I deserve points for shooting despite the weather trying its best to discourage me, the streams were steadily rising whilist I was in them photographing them. It was fun though, a challenge. Had it not been bucketing I’m sure I could have done better, but it’s as much about the mission as the shot, right?
