Kondalilla Falls, QLD

After taking Friday off work, only to have it spoilt by rain, then waking up Saturday to the same conditions, I pulled saturday’s effort into getting back to Kondalilla.
To say that it was a beautiful day for it, would be a lie. I was drenched head to toe with the rain from that day, my shoes soaked and everything that didn’t have a raincoat on it was wet as well. But the Forest glows in the overcast light. Harsh shadows do not exist, the rainforest is at peace, and so am I, because I was consumed with my art, happy to exist within my own mind, and not hassled by anyone. It was a good day. (oh and I had told myself that in 2011 I would take more “green” pictures)

About Kondalilla Falls
Named after the spectacular Kondalilla Falls (meaning “rushing water” in Aboriginal), where Skene Creek drops 90m into a rainforest valley, this park is a cool mountain retreat and an important refuge for many native animals and plants. Picnic Creek circuit starts after you cross the creek. Take the right-hand fork to a lookout over Obi Obi Valley. As the track winds down through open forest to the top of the falls, you can see the waterfall. Continue onto Skene Creek and the lush green rainforest at the bottom of the falls.
