Congratulations to everyone who took part in the Challenge. The work submitted for this challenge was of such high quality that Paul’s first words when given the submissions to judge were – What a tough competition to judge!.

The Bleeding Tree by Birgitta

Paul gave this reason for choosing this piece as the winning entry

I’ve chosen “Bleeding Tree” as the winner – it’s pure aesthetic
quality pushed through immensely along with the title….
The overall appeal of the image is impressive as it tells a story
as well as having extreme visual impact. There is nothing more naked than
a landscape without its forest. I just love the colour space
which the image resides. The pure golds just work so well and the
intricate tonal qualities make the image for me. Love the way your eye
moves seamlessly from the foreground right into the image and the
severed trunk reminds us of the nakedness of our land if these majestic trees
are cut down. Sensational piece of work!

The runner up position goes to

Interior & Furniture Design By … by Paul Tupman

Paul’s reason for choosing this as the runner up piece is

I love this image so much as it shows the naked stage of a building,
bare bones, before all the trimmings and thought process.
And, what a visual masterpiece this is…. from the way the light falls
to the raw colour palette and composition… an almost haphazzard composition
that works so well with all the elements interacting perfectly with each other.
A very unique piece of work where less is more and a stripped back interior
can provide an extremely engaging image. Love this!

The irony of this is that my pic is actually of a room that is going to be a dressing room full of wooden closets.. now you see where all the wood goes.. the shame of it! I’m actually thinking of hiring Birgitta to add a splash of colour to the room!

Totally deserving. I loved reading Pauls interpretations of the imagery. It’s great to hear in detail other folks expressions. I kinda wish that more bubblefolk would be a bit more expressive in their comments in general on imagery, as it is a real pleasure to read the impact and thought process which a viewer experiences on seeing an image.
