U. S. Coast Guard Cutter Taney

This original acrylic on masonite depicts the 327’ Coast Guard Cutter Taney during the l960’s on a typical day in the North Atlantic. I served on her sister ship, Cutter Spencer, and experienced many days like this, and worse, during my many North Atlantic Patrols.

    Hi William
I’ve only put photos on lately as I don’t seem to have the time to paint my usual Aviation Art!
Please go back further in my portfolio and tell me what you think!!!
    Thanks Regards Neil

The detail and quality of this painting is truly superb. Seascapes are difficult, and you’ve conveyed an wonderful sense of motion and life of the water.

It is a privilege to view and comment on such fine nautical art, William.

I’m currently working at my local art gallery class, on a Thomas Bush Hardy, (1842-1897) harbour scene.
It is a long, panoramic-shaped painting. And the choppy sea is very difficult for me to recreate. He has lots of greens and yellows in his sea! A bit like vegetable soup.

I have painted a small central section, from this one, in my gallery, ‘Ramsgate Harbour’.

    Thanks and kind regards,
    Colin.

This is superb, a sea painting that looks wet, only someone with first-hand knowledge of the sea could paint it with such conviction-----that’s why I stick to dry land!

Mike, I appreciate the compliments. I may be able to paint water, but I could never paint a vehicle and get the shine that you do. Your art is fantastic and I can see why it’s wanted for calendars. Bill
