The Cliff and the Ocean

The rough rugged cliff dwells with the soft flowing ocean. They are opposites but together always. Their’s is a silent friendship of difference, when she needs her space she wanders further onto the beach but she always comes back. He stands strong and still not moved by her emotion and waits for her return.

Carrie, your poem is just brilliant. Short, simple and powerful; full of emotive images…and so reflective of “human” nature! It goes perfectly with the picture…which just draws you into it…wondering about them both….
    Beautifully put together.

Wonderful work, Carrie! I love the shot… right angle, right lens, right exposure, right composition… Bravisimo!! I also love your poem, beautiful words with duality of meaning. I only hope that the words are not coming out of the pain of personal experience. Keep up the great work!

    Peace & Love,

Beautiful combination of image and words. . . very Zen like and a wonderfully poetic description of the balance of energies. . . both entities doing what they have done for thousands of years, basically unchanged. . it’s well complimented by the image. softness and durability in both halves of the whole. The very things that draw so many to the water’s edge. . .a faultless and unending balance we cannot hope to achieve. . .but certainly can aspire to.

I think this lovely Carrie your words and the photo. There is love between them which is plain to see and not just a friendship but it is possible also of a love hate relationship from the cliff, well maybe hate is too strong a word but you will understand what I mean? A love hate relationship because he loves her while she is there and loves her while she is away and misses her but the hate comes into the equation as she is wearing him away each day over the centuries eroding his base so he crumbles and falls into her open arms. Hmmm, that wasn’t bad after all eh?
