Winner of the Still Life Painters In Modern Times competition
Thanks to everyone to voted for me and supported me in this event, I’m very honored by the feature and thankful! Take care!
12×12 Acrylic on ceramic; mounted to a hand finished wood box frame.
This still life painting was created for a donation to the March of Dimes ‘Signature Chef Auction’, in Portland Oregon, helping saving babies!
This is one of two paintings I created for the series I call “Maine Dish”; they were fun to create and taken from my personal experience crabbing and fishing. In these works I really tried to capture some of the classic beauty of Maine from the color combinations I chose of the warm mahogany hand finished frames to the very detailed painting of the shellfish themselves. As you study these works closely there are many details to notice, I included like the lobster shells lustrous shine and the crab’s shells colors and texture. I tried to breathe real life into them. I hope you enjoy them as well.

very creative!….well done
Thank you Pete; I saw these in a vision one night, was I hungry for crab? Maybe…
nice educated stuff…like a page from a science book.
Thanks Michael, well the other half of my brain when not associated with art loves science and biology, little known fact right before I made the full switch into the arts, I was majoring in medical and molecular genetics. (I was a total nerd growing up, with the over sized glasses and my nose in a book and all) So I guess there is still a part of my left brain that likes to come out sometimes and play with the right brain.
Ure making me hungry. Another winner!!!
This is simply brilliant – what a concept and you’ve ‘nailed it’ beautifully!
It certainly does look like it would jump of the plate…well done Carrie;)
