11×14 Charcoal, graphite and ink on paper.
Upon seeing the photo for this prospective drawing, I almost didn’t accept it. Completing the woman’s dress was enough to nearly make me crazy! Nevertheless, I cannot refuse a challenge. I purposefully and very painfully reproduced every zig every zag and every weave of fabric visible. I was seeing yarn and zigzags in my sleep. This portrait is often mistaken for a photograph and does seam to be one. I captured every distress mark on the jeans the gentleman is wearing and the light feeling of his white striped linen dress shirt. Look closely and you will see the straw pattern in the sun hat the lady is wearing. The wall behind the couple was drawn with care; notice the carved stone artwork, it’s a signature wall from Emeril’s Restaurant in Florida behind them.
