A lot of them emigrated to Australia and Canada after the war. Ozcloggie’s parents were amongst them too if I’m correct.
So MB, ever been to Holland ?
Where does your family originally come from ?
En spreek je ook een beetje nederlands ?
Marilyn Brown
Well I definately understand what you’ve written there and I can understand a fair bit of spoken dutch, but as to speaking and writting dutch I’m not any good at all, though I wish I was.
I went to the Netherlands for the first time ever in 2004, the connection I had with Holland amazed me! My husband and I stayed with my cousin in Monnickendam.
Both my parents came origanally from Amsterdam though Mum came out with her family just after Ozcloggie when she was 12 and Dad came out in 63. They met at a dutch dance I think! I was born in late 64, quick mover my Dad!
And guess what, we’re going back, at Christmas Time and can’t wait!!

:-) Ooooh my first claim of fame !
I’m from 62 btw, born and bred in the northern province of Friesland.
Had my father had his way in the 50ies my family would have emigrated to Canada, but my mother could not leave her family and hometown behind. I’m glad they stayed, not that there is anything wrong with Canada mind you, but I just belong here (my ancestors have been living in Sneek (pronounce snake) since 1690).
So you are coming back so soon :-) Long trip though….from the other side of the planet.

Corrie, love your work especailly your new series. Isn’t really early in the morning in Nederland?
I just wanted to say that one of my lasting impressions of Holland when I visited was when my cousin was driving me to her place in Monnickendam from the airport, we drove past fields and fields of cows grazing in the pastures. Pastures so green and lush that I commented to my husband that the cows need not walk around to chew the grass, it was growing as fast as they were eating it!
Your work has brought back those memories for me.
It is very mooo…ving! Couldn’t resist!
Corrie Kuipers
yeah, I was up early. It’s almost 8 in the morning now. Usually our cat Miss Minny wakes me up at 6 because she wants to go out and then I stay downstairs to check the mail etc. Now I’m gonna hit the shower and walk the dog and then my reward….coffee !

I used a translator! Wanted to find the word that I can’t spell. Leiker???
Need to ring my Mum!
