Having the opportunity to view these elk in Cataloochee, North Carolina. I had the chance to watch this bull and another do their “rut dance” to take over the female herd. Unfortunately for this guy, he didnt get the chance to win them over, but he definitely held his own. After the battle this guy took on another bull elk in the area further up the field.
Amazing experience watching nature in action.
I thought it was kind of funny of how the younger bull elk kept their distance, watching the older guys battle it out.
Either this guy lost his collar, or the park hasnt caught him yet to tag him.
