instead of doing the usual smoky mountain autumn shot, figured it’s time to show off what millions that pass thru this area dont get to see as they head into the park.
this is along the backroads of my home town of townsend tn.
i am so glad this area hasnt been ruined as the gatlinburg, pigeon forge and seiverville side with many rental cabins, hotels, so many resturants you’re no longer hungry trying to decide where to eat, and all the commercialism that is on that side.
this is what the smoky mountains are all about. a peaceful and beautiful life, blending into the enviroment instead of ruining it. going to the local mom and pop resturant instead of supporting chains that are all around the world.
there is a hidden beauty in this area, and to see it, one must have a open mind and open eyes.

i shot this in SS priority ( i always shoot in SS priority) at 1/125, F-stop at 11, ISO at 100, and exposure comp at -0.03, focus at 38mm

Chris…this is such a beautiful image..real rustic perfection.I agree with you about the chains of eateries that we all know..lets get back to the good old day’s where you could get a bite to eat in the picturesque areas that folk don’t look for.I love this..such exquisite colours Bravo.xxxxxxxxxx

hey christopher. did you pick up my habit of not capitalizing any of your words? i do this on email all the time lol. nice shot. i wondered though if you wanted add some capital letters to your titel here. i’ve never been to the smoky mountains so thank you for sharing this photos with us. you’re blessed to be in a rural area. i would love to do the same, move farther out but then, my husband would have even a longer commute to downtown sacramento. this photo is very down to earth. love that. laurie

  • lol nope, ive always done that, i usually dont captialize due to search engines, the majority of people dont use capped letters when doing a search and usually search engines are case sensitive :), besides, adding a cap on a letter or word, usually helps with the emphasis on the word :)
thanks for the comment :) and you’re right i am blessed to be on this side of the smokies, i wouldnt have it any other way

I just love this – the homey unspoiled quality of it. And you’re right – this is totally beautiful! So perfectly autumn, so picturesque. Love your choice of setting Christopher!!

Stayed in Townsend last year and enjoyed every minute of it. Absolutely loathed Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. Will probably stay in Townsend again on our next visit. Nice photo!!
