how often doya.....

we have all been thru the issues of comments and watchlists. but..the question i have, is on your watchlist, when you have the time in this busy world of redbubble.. and 1st reaction is to comment on a shot just submitted. how often doya click on a link of “old work” on the person you’re wanting to comment on?
i personally like to look at some of the old work submitted, and alittle in the middle, as fast as this site goes, keeping up with the new..is a tough task. i think it also shows the progression of the photographer or the artist.
today, found a couple of gems that some had 1st submitted when they joined redbubble, ill admit it was a very nice “treat”,

so the question came to mind for others..when you have the time..how often do you look at that last link?

I usually will comment on the latest upload. I seldom go back into the depths of the past. I should because there are so many treasure hidden. Thank you for inspiring me to do that, Chris!

yes i like to see what people are up to know and in the past gives you a better idea of what the person is thinking when taking a particular shot

I know exactly what you mean. it would be impossible to keep up with all the amazing work that can be found on RB, there are not enough hours in the day, plus of course there are the other things to do, work, eat, sleep, take my wife shopping, act as unpaid professional driver for my daughter, take pictures, upload pictures into RB, add a story to convey the context of the picture, etc.

I look at all the new pictures of everyone on my watchlist, and when I get comments from someone new, I always go and have a look at their stuff. I may browse quite deep, it really depends on if I like what I am finding. If I like a picture, I will try to comment and if I really like the artist’s style, I may add them to my ever growing watchlist.

There has been a recent debate about watchlists, specifically, if you are on mine, then I expect to be on yours. I do not subscribe to this. I know that some of the people who have me on their watchlist are not on mine. However, when people are kind enough to comment, I always go look to see if they have uploaded anything new. Like most people who have been on RB for a while, their offerings have generally improved and then there is the possibility that I will add them to my watchlist at that time.

Another thing, when people comment on my work, I’m always pleased and flattered, but I seldom bother to append a thank you for each of these comments. As I stated earlier, I much prefer to go look at their work and comment on the stuff I like.

I have recently removed a few people from my watchlist, because even though I like their work, other than a curt thank you when I commented on their work, they had never once commented on any of my pictures. I checked. I did not make a song and dance about it, I just removed them quietly.

I agree with Chris on this; I find it always so sweet when someone browses into the depths of my portfolio and I try to do the same when I get a chance….....it makes a world of difference…...

I find that very often some slip through the watchlist, When I send someone a bubble mail, I go and look through their work whilst I am there and comment on all I have missed., and also if someone new leaves a comment I go and have a look and comment, I go right through their work. This is how I find them to put up for everyone else to enjoy.

I know that when someone new comments on something i have done, I will check their work out – I find it interesting the range of different artists that have taken the time to leave me a comment – I am always amazed at the creativity that I discover and know that there isn’t always enough hours in a day to see everything.

I agree. If someone new comments on my work, I’ll go check out their work, and comment on something if I can. I would say my procedure is similar to what Tomg described. How deep I go into someone’s work depends on time and how many pages they have. If they have less than 5 pages I’ll peruse all of the pages, otherwise I skip around a bit. I’ve only removed one person from my watchlist and that was only because they were in the habit of uploading about 20 images per day and a lot of it was very similar.

I can go over ten pages of a bubbler if I have time ,I oftenly go on page one directly because some people doesn’t rotate their works .It’s one of the reason I’m always changing my pic of places ,not many people go to all the pages.Another thing I do is delete the less commented ,so I never have more than 4 or 5 pages to go through.

I agree also, even though I haven’t been here long I am also finding it a daunting task to keep up with the work posted by those on my watch list. I also almost always go to a person’s page that comments on something of mine and look at their other work. I am finding that there are as many opinions about how to manage your site as there people who are willing to discuss it. There is so much quality work here that I think it would be imossible to look at even a percentage of it.

yes and as the site gets bigger and we add more to our watch list the turnover is huge, I can be away for several days at work and come back to a huge activity monitor I’m finding it hard to keep up let alone look through more pages usually though I will click through the first 6 1/2 doz and thats about all I have time for
