well guys, for some of us around the globe the clock is officially ticking down for a new year and decade….2010….
its been a tough year for a lot over all, and we are all happy to see 2009 go!
all year long we have talked about how tough things were, and all the bad (if that is the right word) that has happened to us
but..somewhere in past 364 days…at least ONE thing had to be good or the best.
so name the best thing that has happened to you for 2009…doesnt matter how big or small it was, doesnt matter if it includes family, friends, personal, or material…at least one good thing has had to have happened…
the best thing that happened to me in 2009
was in october, on my birthday, two of my very dearest friends were able to be here. turned out being the best birthday of my life..literally…so that..is the best thing that happened to me in 2009.

the best thing to happen to me during 2009 was that I got quite a few bookings for weddings, events, photo shoots ect and sold 2 images through Fotolibra to the makers of Monopoly who published both images on the box lid of Monopoly – Edinburgh Version, such a buzz to see your images in the shops on the box lids of a global company
who said there is a recession on…..lol

The best thing that happened to me in 2009 was to get out from under credit card debt! And if that is not enough … I got to meet many lovely people, both men and women with whom I became good friends. Some I even got to kiss! Now it doesn’t get any better than that! :)

i had a heart attack,,,it was the only way i could give up ciggies ,,,,,,so it really was the best thing that happened to me,,,i am 7 months off them and i dont miss them,,,,,,,

I got to photograph a friend’s wedding with my grandson as my assistant! And we get to do that again in 2010! We had a ball and I am so glad he has a keen interest in photography.

Last year was not so easy, but a lot of little good things happened. One of them was when my photo(s) was stolen and about 100 people from RBubble stand up for me! That was so amazing, and I will never forget it.
And i also was very happy with my book on Blurb.
If you want to see it, there are always things to be thankful for.

I won an art comp this year, which was great but I think the best thing was writing my first book and seeing a copy, really felt like an achievement long overdue!

Brilliant idea my friend; positive energies are certainly always welcome! I got to know my grandaughter (one of five)…but had never met her until she was sixteen….this last year I was selected to take shots for her Junior Prom and this is Misty today….

whatever made you have a true and deep smile and good feeling within is what im relating to ;) i had a few other things good happen to me, was published in 9-1-1 magazine, my poem “the key” was published, got a promotion..but the bestest part out of all of that..spending time with marianne on my bd and us getting to shoot a wedding together…to me..thats priceless and overrides all the publishing :)

i know ya could make it…funny things in life we think are horrible are usually the best reminders and lessons..life isnt about keeping up with jonses, its about keeping to our basics and realizing..the simpliest things..are always the best :)

I know perfectly what you mean about that one day and close friends Christophe. Glad to hear that you had one and enjoyed it.
My year was not the greatest but I have to say that the many friends that I have made here on Rb have kept me and my feet on the ground at times when I thought I was going to fall flat on me ugly face.

I agree with Suellen, it’s so good to focus on the positive things and to look forward. Life is too short to look backwards. We only get one go…
I had a good 2009 actually, I love my job, my partner and I began our 28th year together, my home and garden are lovely, I travelled a bit, we had a lot of rain, my dog is well, my possums have engaged me every night with their delightful antics … but perhaps the highlight was going to Finland and giving a paper at a conference! Nerve-racking, thrilling, scary, affirming, and perhaps enough to encourage me to start a Ph.D. at the advanced age of 60!!!
Thanks for the opportunity to reflect on the high points and to recount them to my RB friends.,

OK Chris. I guess the best thing is my daughter doing better in school. She struggles and has always needed help from me to do her homework. This year, she only asks for help once in a while and is so much more independent. There were nights where I was completely exhauted from helping her and that has pretty much gone away this year.

Wow Adam, you are amazing, most parents give up when the going gets tough. Your daughter will look back one day and thank you sincerely. My mother spent hours with me teaching me maths tables when I was in grade 3 (slow learner)……I am forever grateful for her persistence…. now at nearly 54 I’ll be graduating with a marine biology PhD. Thanks mum. and Thanks Adam on behalf of your daughter
