busy as three bees

was shooting macros of this wildflower in cades cove, when i got the treat of three varities of bees sharing the wildflower (think is part of the cone family, its really cool!), unfortunately this year, 2007, was a very very rough year for ALL the wildlife and nature in the smoky mountains, due to no rain, and a freak freeze around easter. the freeze killed everything that had already bloomed, so it was very odd to see species that normally dont hang out together, tolerating each other just to eat. shot this macro using a nikon diopter lens attached to a canon 75-300mm lens

Really nice Chris, the muted colors are really sweet and you hit the perfect compositional sweet spot.

Fabulous work, Chris. I especially love the bee in flight, a very difficult action to freeze with such clarity as you achieved. Terrific colors, too, as well as a wonderful statement about shared wealth among God’s creatures. This is a winner!

This is a great shot Chris! I even learned something here, there are differnt types of bees. Guess I need some training in wild life AND photography huh? LOL

These little girls have really got their pollen luggage packed. Really nice capture Christopher. I’m rather partial to shots of bees (my favourite insect – even more so than butterflies!). (Thank you for your comments too, much appreciated.)

Wow, that’s just cool. Natures little threesome. I recognize the bumble bee got a few this last weekend, also love the honey bee, but the third one I’ve never seen. Is it a type of parasitic wasp?
