butterfly on a lily

Beautiful image Christopher. These little fellows are not easy to photograph either. At least not for me. lol I’ve chased them all over and still not get a single photo. Terrific photo :-) Reminds me of Fall

Lovely capture Christopher, and what a bit of luck. Love the way the butterfly colour compliments the flower stamens – it looks like this could be one of evolutions little tricks to attract a certain species of insect to a certain flower, with the host taking on a similar identity to the visitor.

thanks very much treasured, trick is you dont chase, you find some flowers they like, and sit and wait! lol now this butterfly was flying around from lily to lily, and happened to land on this one, so i was a snap happy Fool! lol

thanks very much julie, ya know that could be why, but i think it could be the sweetness of the flower also, think about it..lilies smell sweet and thistle does, but some blooming flowers dont get the butterflies on them..just amazing how they know which and where to go

Great shot, I think it is a Great Spangled Fritillary too but all Fritillaries are pretty similar.
