peeking from under the cherry tree
cades cove in the great smoky mountains is notorious for the black bears. i am happy to say, this year has been an excellent year for viewing them. they have had food, and the park hasnt moved them out like they were caught doing last year.
yesterday morning shooting in the cove, i am upon a mama bear and her two cubs feeding in a cherry tree
this mama was after a particular branch, and she went up and down for it, finally chewing it off.
best if viewed larger

outstanding Chris, do you ever get in a threatening situatiin with the bears?
Christopher E... replied
no sir i havent so far, but then again, ive followed them enough to know their body language, and i RESPECT them, not fear, maybe that is why i can get so close? its a totally amazing experience, always like my first time when i am around them.

thanks mundy, all she was concentrating on was this one branch, when she finally chewed it down, 1 of the cubs pushed her over and took it over, was quite funny. appreciate it!

Well done Christopher. There is a big danger factor with mama bears and cubs so I am sure you were careful to use a very long lens.
Christopher E... replied
al, the only lens i have is my 75-300mm, that is the lens i use for my wildlife, you respect them instead of fear, its amazing how close one can get. thanks very much
