wood spirit comes into view

wood spirit comes into view

it’s really strange how i came about getting this particular shot. i had seen this old tree with some ferns and moss on it, loved how many would think it was dead, was actually still giving life. so as im setting up my shot trying to get just the right composition for my title.
im looking thru the viewfinder and “he” comes into focus. I am meaning the wood spirit,
legend has it only a select few are allowed to see them, as they oversee the forests. i feel honored and priviledged to have been able to view this remarkable character. i found this in (of course) my mountains, only if you’re with me will i show you the location of him.
now everytime i see these shots, i always see “him”, can you?

I shot this in sepia, BW and color, NO conversions, (aka changed camera settings) my personal fav is this sepia, i am adding the other two versions for those who like color and BW. if anyone would like a print or anything like that of the other versions, contact me and ill make them available for public view and sale :) the link above is for anyone wanting to read more about the legend of the wood spirits, alot of wood carvers carve his face and sell in this area.

wood spirit comes into view belongs to the following groups:

Chris Awesome work! I see 2 faces back to back although the light (good) face has the body and the dark (evil) face just appears to always be there. Just like in life…...Just follow me here…. I always try to see the good in all people although some have evil thoughts lurking in the back of their minds.

How extraordinary Chris – and what a visionary eye you have to have caught this so perfectly! I can’t say which I prefer the b/w or the color – each adds a particular dimension. In this b/w the detail is so crisp and clear! Just quite incredible and clear as day!

Fantastic shot Chris. Yes, i too can see the wood spirit. It looks like he is standing with his head tilted a little to th right. His arm is extended out in front of him. I see a staff close to his right shoulder and a bird by his feet. For me…..i like the statue with the green. Great shot!!!!!!

  • Christopher E... replied

cmon jeanne..ill show him to you, the reason i dont want to say where he is, is because of my other shot “the art of physics”, that rock is no longer standing :( i guess someone decided to knock it down because we sure dont have the water around to knock it down! lol
