trout lily

this dwarfed sized lily only grows about 6-7 inches tall, it is native to the great smoky mountains, i had to lay on the ground shooting this macro in order to show the inside of it, shot this macro using a nikon diopter lens attached to a canon 75-300mm lens

trout lily belongs to the following groups:

I think this flower is called «Trout Lily»I’ve been looking for her for two years and I hope to find it this spring .You are lucky it’s not easy now to find that tiny and beautiful flower in my area .The bulb is pretty deep and small and not easy to transplante. It’s a beautiful shot ,so delicat and gracious.

  • Christopher E... replied

thanks so much gigi, and yes it is a trout lily, they come in other colors also, this is most famous due to its color being like the mountain stream trout, and this was hard to find, i have quite a few in my yard that have already bloomed :)
