Osiris and Isis

I have always been so fascinated by ancient Egypt and have wanted to do a painting like this for a long time. This is my version of Isis and Osiris. There is a tragic story behind Osiris and Isis, and how Osiris became the God of the underworld. This image is how I like to think of them, young and in love before they became gods. I looked at some old papyrus images of them for reference. The clothing is a bit different from the references that I looked at. I have two signatures in this work one is my regular and one is painted in Hieroglyphics on the vase.

The sketch for this was done in Painter, the painting was done in Photoshop.

    what a great depiction – love the lighting and glow of this…. and the concept (although I think I can sense Set lurking in the background!)

    The details are so appreciated. And the lighting – it makes you feel like they’re real because of the close resemblance to people being lighted by candles! Very romantic
