Sometimes one can find really interesting photo subjects while exploring back alleys. Yes, this building actually has purple-painted bricks! And it seems the owners of the building may have encountered some mail carriers who were not very attentive. ;) (Olympus E-5 & Zuiko 9-18mm zoom at 18mm, f/5.6, 1/60 sec., ISO 320, afternoon sun)

Must of been a striking building in purple and as you say the mail men must of had difficulty find how to post the letters. Great find.

  • Thank you, Karen! Yes, the building is quite noticeable and considered something of a landmark in its section of town (known as the East Village Arts District of Long Beach, California), where quirkiness is the norm.

..that’s funny. Perhaps the purple clouded the sense of reason of the mail carriers!

  • Thanks very much, Katherine! I thought it was funny when I saw it. The building has been that color for many years, so any but the newest mail carrier should be quite accustomed to the sight.

Love it, esp with the black mat!

  • Thank you, Lynn! I thought the black mat was best because it shows off the plummy purple. :)

And not very bright! Haven’t we all had mail box problems!? very amusing shot.

  • Thank you, Bette, and I’m so glad you found it amusing. I did when I came upon the mailbox and hoped others would, too.

Great Capture and tones. I thing the colours they have painted it is effective and the front numbers have a dimensional effect. Makes you wonder what the handle at the bottem does.

  • Joy, thank you very much! In person, the front numbers actually looked like metal house numbers one might buy at a hardware store, except that these looked handmade. I also wondered about that handle on the bottom. :)

Just love this! Made me smile! Hope this doesn’t just make matters worse. You never want to aggravate your mail carrier! :)

  • A smile is a good thing always! Thanks very much for your comment and fave.

Ah…but can the mail carriers read ??

    Great find Celeste :-)

  • Thank you, Thomas! I sure hope they can read, but sometimes I wonder when I find other people’s mail in my mailbox. :)
