(Please view large for details!) I love bees and the challenge they present – always moving, ever unpredictable. This bumblebee flew into my composition and stayed only long enough for me to grab a couple of images. Fortunately one was all I needed. :) (Olympus E-5 & Zuiko 50mm macro, f/8, 1/125 sec., ISO 500, open shade, handheld.) The texture is “June” from Leslie Nicole’s Artiste Collection at French Kiss Textures.

Very nice Celeste !!! So good of you to ask the bee to sit in and pose for you….

  • Thank you so much, Thomas! Ha, the day I can get bees posing for me will be the day when they start calling me the “bee whisperer.” ;)

Great shot, Celeste. The bee is so BLACK. We don’t have bumblebees in Australia-yet!

  • Thanks, Bette! Yes, bumblees are jet black with some yellow and very furry. This was a small one, as bumblebees can be huge!

Wonderful angle and detail on both bee and flower, and great use of texture as well. You have a magical touch with dahlias!

  • Thanks very much, Anita! I’ve come to love dahlias since first photographing them a few years ago at my favorite botanical garden.
