A single red rose is one of nature’s most beautiful gifts. It is also a symbol of love and devotion. (Olympus E-510 & Zuiko 35mm macro, f/6.3, 1/320 sec., ISO 100, open shade, handheld.) Texture (Dove Wings) from Leslie Nicole’s Artiste Collection at French Kiss Textures.

Love the different profile that this rose has, and the very definite suggestion – helped by the textures – that this is a painting.

  • Thank you, Bette. It was the shape of the rose that caught my attention in the field. I photographed it with natural background (pebbles and a bit of grass), which I thought was a little busy, and then I tried using my white diffuser as a background. The white background isn’t natural, but it’s a change of pace.
