Captured in the vegetable section of the volunteer garden at my local botanical garden. I enjoy photographing bees, even though they are difficult subjects. :) If you have a minute, the larger version of this is worth a look for the increased detail. (Olympus E-510 & Zuiko 35mm macro, f/7.1, 1/160 sec., ISO 100, partly cloudy)

Love the way one can see through the gossamer of the bee’s wings.
Thank you, Bette! It was a good bit of luck that the bee stopped moving in a position that showed off the translucency of its wing.

Wonderful lighting and detail on both bee and flower, Celeste! You’ve captured a difficult subject so very well!
Thank you, Anita! Bees are indeed difficult, and I’ve been known to throw away 20 or so files and not keep a one. :)

Wow! What a wonderful closeup! The larger version is a treat!!
Thanks very much, Kristi! The larger version shows all the little hairs so much better. :) I’ve noticed in general that RB renders fine detail best in the larger size.

Amazing details, Celeste. How beautiful can be an onion flower!!!!
Thank you, Eby! Onion flowers are very fine and delicate – and they smell mildly of onion.
