I was ready to leave after a full morning in the botanical garden, but I couldn’t ignore the activity around the aloes. Bees were having a wonderful time harvesting pollen from these Lebombo Aloe blooms (the variety is native to South Africa and Mozambique). I persisted until I captured a bee with one of its pollen sacs in full view. It was noon, so the light was more contrasty than I would have liked; I did a little touch-up of some blown highlights.
