I captured this scene very quickly when for the moment no people were in view, as it was a very crowded afternoon at the renowned Huntington Botanical Gardens in San Marino, California. This view is in the Chinese Garden. I was standing inside the Terrace of the Jade Mirror, shooting across the water and toward the Love for the Lotus Pavilion. As wonderful as the names are, I was told by a friend who speaks Chinese that the original names in Chinese are even more nuanced and beautiful. The round window is the perfect frame for the garden. Very calm and composed – as Chinese gardens are.
Thank you, Bette! I loved the round openings immediately. The trick was capturing anything without posed visitors, water bottles, baby carriages, etc.! I think I will have to go back on a day that is not so busy to truly appreciate the calmness of the garden.

Superbly framed well done.
Thanks very much, Julie! Having to work so quickly, I was really happy to discover this view and capture it before the next wave of people entered the little terrace.
