It was my usual Sunday outing a few days ago (12 February 2012) and also the first weekend of cherry blossom season at South Coast Botanic Garden. With our mild winter, the blossoms are early but the public seems unaware. Photographers, however, were out in force – I saw a few familiar faces and some impressive gear. The weather cooperated with some sun between the clouds, and the cherry blossoms were pure and sweet and joyously pink. (Sakura is the Japanese word for cherry blossom.) Beautiful image! I wish we had blossoms already! Wonderful color and bokeh!
Thanks very much, Tracy! I’m in Southern California, and our cherry blossoms are always ahead of the rest of the country. However, they are even earlier than usual this year.

This does not look like a mild winter me, Celeste! This is SPRING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is one of the most beautiful cherry blossoms I have ever seen. Simply STUNNING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks, Eby. Yes, definitely spring, but it’s our mild winter that led to an early spring. I can’t wait to go see these again on Sunday!

So lovely, Celeste, and that color is just Gorgeous…! I know what you mean about photographers..when the cherry blossoms are out here at the park people come in buses and it’s hard to get a photo because you get a photo of people getting photos….beautiful background in your image too – more blossoms!
Thanks, Katherine! We don’t get crowds like that, thank heavens! Thanks for noticing what I did. I worked at this shot, as there’s one cherry tree at some distance from a group of three others. This branch suited me because it stood away from the others and let me get the more distant trees in the background.

This is so beautiful, Celeste …. I can hardly wait until Spring arrives. This is
a wonderful peek of what is to come. I am very slowly getting used to NOT
hunting for my glasses:-) lol
Thank you very much, Brenda! I’m glad you’re enjoying your new vision. :) I still need glasses for my right eye, as they won’t do surgery on it yet.

Such beautiful detail and that bokeh makes the perfect backdrop . . Lovely work Celelste . . .x
Thanks, Teresa! I worked to get the bokeh, maneuvering to get a nearby tree’s flowers against trees in the distance.

Beautiful work Celeste….I can feel the nice warn California breeze in this….
Thanks very much, Thomas! It was breezy off and on that day, as we had gray storm clouds with the sun peeking through occasionally.
