It was my usual Sunday outing a few days ago (12 February 2012) and also the first weekend of cherry blossom season at South Coast Botanic Garden. With our mild winter, the blossoms are early but the public seems unaware. Photographers, however, were out in force – I saw a few familiar faces and some impressive gear. The weather cooperated with some sun between the clouds, and the cherry blossoms were pure and sweet and joyously pink. (Sakura is the Japanese word for cherry blossom.)
