Trumpet trees and gazebo by Celeste Mookherjee
Clear

This is part of the upper meadow at South Coast Botanic Garden (Rancho Palos Verdes, California) and the scene of many weddings and other special events. The magnificent trumpet trees are a hybrid of yellow and pink varieties, resulting in variegated apricot-colored blooms (botanical name in the tags). The trees are at peak beauty right now (February 2012). (Olympus E-5 & Zuiko 70-300mm zoom at 89mm, f/11, 1/320 sec., ISO 200, morning sun, handheld)

Those trumpet trees are certainly beautiful…they are full and lush…just lovely….I suppose they are like the cherry blossoms which only stay at their best for about two days…it seems….just an enchanting scene, Celeste…

  • Thanks, Katherine! These last much longer than cherry blossoms, although they start to get a bit ragged-looking up close even while they remain pretty from a distance. Even cherry blossoms in this garden are usually good for a few weeks of attractive display (assuming no heavy storms).
