It was Christmas afternoon, and I was wandering in the Rainbow Harbor area of Long Beach, California. Some kind of metal pipe device (perhaps a hydrant meant to be used by firefighters) suddenly caught my eye. I surmise that the blue corrosion is a result of constant exposure to salt air. It was a fun device to explore with my macro lens. (Olympus E-5 & Zuiko 50mm macro, f/8, 1/100 sec., ISO 640, open shade)

Oh I love shots like these and how unusual the blue is . . .x

  • Thanks, Teresa! I saw the metallic gleam of the entire device first, but I knew I had to explore with my lens when I spotted the blue.
