There is a point where in the mystery of existence contradictions meet; where movement is not all movement and stillness is not all stillness; where the idea and the form, the within and the without, are united; where infinite becomes finite, yet not. —Rabindranath Tagore
This rose image represents another of my explorations into the world of macro images captured at large apertures, in this case wide open at f/2. I know macro photographers who are horrified at the idea of shooting at anything wider than about f/16, and for them even f/8 is “too soft.” I counter that I am not shooting science illustrations but rather (I hope) artistic images that are as much about emotion as image detail. If you can feel the love I have for my floral subjects, then I am happy. :) (Olympus E-5 & Zuiko 50mm macro, f/2, 1/3200 sec., ISO 200, overcast, handheld)

Love the morning dew drops on your macros Celeste…
Thank you so much, Thomas! This time it’s actually raindrops, but either way I agree that water drops can add a lot to a flower macro.
