This is another example of my experimenting with my macro lens wide open at f/2. It was a rainy morning that left droplets and graced the flowers with soft light. I found the tight spiral of this newly opening rose irresistible as it both revealed and concealed. (Olympus E-5 & Zuiko 50mm macro, f/2, 1/640 sec., ISO 200, partly cloudy/morning sun, handheld)

This is almost like an abstract of a rose . . . .and I love it. Such luminous colour and where there are details they contrast with the smooth silkness in the other parts . . . delicious . . give me a spoon :-) x

  • Thanks, Teresa! It is just a bit abstract, but that’s part of the fun of shooting wide open!

So lovely and somewhat mysterious…..really gorgeous shot, Celeste!

  • Thank you, Chris! I’m glad you picked up on the mystery, which I think has a lot to do with the soft focus.
