I found this delicate little pink lady’s slipper orchid in the orchid greenhouse (Los Angeles County Arboretum), which looks and feels like a rain forest setting inside. (Olympus E-510 & Zuiko 70-300mm zoom at 169mm, f/6.3, 1/200 sec., ISO 400, heavily filtered sunlight, handheld) Textures from Leslie Nicole’s French Kiss Textures

Beautiful image Celeste of a beautiful flower! Great lighting and the texture really lifts it

  • Thanks very much, Elizabeth! I took this over a year ago and decided to process the original differently this time, using the subtle textures to unify the background. I’m so glad you like it!

Stunning clarity on this image, Celeste…. the detail you have captured in the intricate color patterns is really something and must be viewed large to really appreciate…. such lovely color too…. just beautifully taken, Celeste.

  • Thanks, Katherine. This is a reworking of an image from over a year ago, as I thought I could do a better job on it now. I’m delighted that you like it!

what a beauty .. the wild ones are illegal to pick here in the woods .. its because it takes forever for them to flower,,I use to pick them when I was a little girl and bring them home to my mother not knowing about the illegal part lol

  • Thanks, Elaine! I haven’t seen any in the wild in years, although I know they do exist and are protected here in the USA as well. One of the earlier commenters on this photo identified the orchid as a South American variety.
