Few sights are more beautiful than a rose in its prime after a morning rain, and I was fascinated by the spiral of petals in this opening blossom. This rose variety is one of my personal favorites, the hybrid tea “Love & Peace,” an All-America Rose Selection for 2002. Classic beauty . . .and I love the spiral you’ve captured . . .gorgeous Celeste x

  • Thanks, Teresa! The spiral was too good to ignore, and it caused me to shoot straight down at the flower — something I rarely do!

I am reluctant to ‘dumb-down’ such a breathtaking image but I’m thinking ice cream…and I’m not even a huge ice-cream fan….. how lovely this is, Celeste, with the overlapping swirls and soft blends of color on those curved petals… I also like your shooting perspective for this…. that’s such a gorgeous shade of yellow also.

  • Thanks very much, Katherine. I can see the ice cream similarity, especially if it’s soft-serve that spirals into a cone from a dispenser. The rose itself seemed to dictate the perspective, as the top-down view showed the spiral swirl to best advantage.

  • Thanks, Kaz! It was the spiral that caught my eye as I was looking at a cluster of rosebushes.
