For the moment I am fascinated with the white anemones blooming at my local botanical garden, so here’s another one! I usually avoid shooting in direct sun, especially if my subject is a white flower, but this time I was drawn to the graceful shadow patterns created by the stamens. Along with the shadows the incredible clarity of that center really stands out….those dancing shadows are actually figure skaters because the white petals with the bit of shimmer looks like ice….don’t blame me for that.. it’s late and I’m tired…..fabulous, Celeste!

  • Thanks, Katherine. I can see how the sparkly whites might look like ice on a pond. The shadows as skaters create a lovely mental image!

The shadows create a whole new world of form and pattern. This is beautiful Celeste and you’ve managed to capture the detail in the bright white petal . . . . .no mean feat in sunlight . . . .lovely work .

  • Thank you, Teresa! It took me a lot of practice before I learned to hold detail in a white petal in the sun. :)

I love the darker dancing shadows on the pristine white of the petals! Beautiful work!

  • Thanks very much, Sharona!
