The Earl Burns Miller Japanese Garden on the campus of California State University, Long Beach, is a popular Sunday afternoon destination for families. (Kids love feeding the koi.) The garden is also much in demand as a wedding venue. (Olympus E-5 & Zuiko 70-300mm zoom at 70mm, f/8, 1/160 sec., ISO 200, afternoon sun, handheld – no crop, composed in camera)

  • Thanks very much, Brenda. The garden is a very pretty place, and it feels peaceful to me — a feeling I was intentionally trying to capture in this image.

A serene and graceful shot . . . .so refreshing to look at.

  • I’m glad you like it, Teresa. This is a special place and so nice to have it close to home (although I do wish they were open in the morning).

Congratulations! Your photo has been featured in the group “Gardens, Parks, Trees & Shrubs”

This photo was chosen because it was of a very high quality and it captures exactly the sort of work that we feel should be displayed in the featured section of a garden group.

Please keep up the great work and we hope you continue to add more of your excellent photographs to this group.

  • Thank you very much for the feature! I am honored!
