I learned a new term from the dahlia show last weekend at the botanical garden: “collarette.” I found this flower outdoors, not inside at the show, but it’s an example of a collarette dahlia: one with an inner ring of shorter petals around the disk. (Olympus E-5 & Zuiko 70-300mm zoom at 215mm, f/8, 1/320 sec., ISO 320, partly cloudy, handheld) Textures courtesy of Leslie Nicole’s French Kiss Textures and Shadowhouse Creations.

    This is new to me as well . . . .Such beautiful colours and I love what the textures have done with the green background. A lovely shot.
