Ethereal dahlia by Celeste Mookherjee

Currently unavailable for purchase

This is from an indoor dahlia show at my local botanical garden. Lots of beautiful dahlia blooms and not much light, so it was challenging for photography and I threw away more than I kept. This is one of my best keepers. (Olympus E-510 & Zuiko 50mm macro, f/2.8, 1/100 sec., ISO 400, subdued fluorescent auditorium lighting, handheld)

Soft and fluid! Looks like it could be cream!" Wonderful macro!

  • Thanks, Joanne. It’s a dahlia thing – some varieties do have a flow in their petals.

Ethereal indeed – lemon meringue pie! Congratulations on the feature.

  • Thank you very much! There is actually a dahlia variety called “Lemon Meringue” – yellow petals with white tips. I’ll be posting a photo before long.
