At the center of a brand-new magnolia blossom lies a magnificent and distinctive green cluster of curled pistils surrounded by stamens so new that they still cling tightly to the gynoecium. Until I poked my macro lens deep into the center of this magnolia, I had no idea that the central structure is fuzzy! (Olympus E-5 & Zuiko 50m macro, f/11, 1/100 sec., ISO 400, open shade, handheld)
