I love agapanthus, especially in the bud stage. While exploring photographic possibilities in a large patch of flowers, I spotted a recently opened bud cluster with two buds touching in a way that looked so much like a kiss that I was utterly fascinated.
The image title comes from the classic love song, “As Time Goes By,” featured in the movie Casablanca.
I spent a good bit of time trying lots of angles on the “young lovers” and finally settled on this as the basis of a textured image prepared especially for a challenge in the group, Flower Works – Manipulated with Texture. (Olympus E-5 & Zuiko 50mm macro, f/4, 1/320 sec., ISO 200, partly cloudy/morning sun, handheld) Textures courtesy of Leslie Nicole’s French Kiss Textures and Shadowhouse Creations.

You couldn’t have selected a better and more fitting title to go along with this flirty and lovely image, Celeste… Once again, you nailed the color….I used to think angles were your expertise, then edges, now colors…. you do it all….Gorgeous work.
Thank you, Katherine! The colors are a little less vibrant than reality, but that’s the effect of the textures.

Lovely image and perfect touch of texture. xx
Thank you very much, Nicole. Having just read your interview in the Flower Works newsletter, I believe I have one thing in common with you: I’m loathe to give up the sharp flower detail I work so hard to capture, and so my textured images always have layer masks — and I often use texture layers with opacities well below 100%.
