Lots of colorful koi live in the pond at the Earl Burns Miller Japanese Garden on the campus of California State University, Long Beach. The garden sells koi food, and feeding the koi is especially popular with children. When a bit of food hits the water, the response from the koi fish is Pavlovian and sometimes quite comical, as they rush open-mouthed to grab the goodies. You can tell from the water disturbance that these fish were hungry! (Olympus E-5 & Zuiko 70-300mm zoom at 133mm, f/8, 1/800 sec., ISO 200, afternoon sun, handheld)
